Find a Good Acupuncturist

Ask friends or integrative physicians for recommendations to find a good local acupuncturist. Local health publications are a good source to look for acupuncture clinics. Some clinics offer lower cost acupuncture group sessions where you might share a room with one or two other people for a lower cost alternative.

Feel comfortable with the acupuncturist

Spend time at the first appointment talking with the acupuncturist and be specific about what issues you would like to work on. You can ask for specific treatments to do things such as lower your cortisol levels and stress or that you want to work on having better sleep.

Do not give up

Many people do not immediately see the effects of acupuncture and tend to give up after the very first try. This keeps them from seeing the positive effects that can happen after several sessions. Ask your practitioner how long it can take to see the results you are looking for, they can tell you based on how complex your issues are.
